The following presentation was made by Philip Yanov, Executive Director of the Greenville Spartanburg Anderson Technology Council at the dedication of the Sterling Center Computer Lab.

Thank You for the introduction.  I can not say how proud I am of Paul Waters and what he has been able to accomplish here.  The Greenville Spartanburg Anderson Technology Council is delighted that we were able to assist in marshalling the resources of so many committed IT professionals to act together to improve the future of our community.

We would like to thank Rick Smith for mobilizing the Upstate Carolina Linux Users Group to provide the needed software and its configuration. Rick, John D. Robertson, David Yates, James Cheezem, and Jas Ekard provided over 50 hours of expert consulting services to this project and we would like to recognize their efforts.

Joe Walling, of Walling IS services donated four workstations, a LAN switch, and other useful equipment to the center. Joe is the owner of Walling IS services & President of the GSP Developers Guild. Thank You Joe for your commitment.

We’d also like to thank Scott Sterns of MJB Consulting and the Golden Strip Jaycees who reached beyond their community by securing four needed UPS units, three monitors, and a router for the center.

We’d like to thank Lynda & Eric Kaufman for the donation of a monitor.

We would also like to thank Kirk Myers and Michael Sokoloff and Charter Communications for the donation of Business Level Broadband Internet Access to the center.  Their gift and assistance will allow the students of the center to get safe, secure, always on access to the internet. Thank You.

We would also like to thank Dan Dalen for lending his expertise in developing the policies and procedures for the lab, and Gary Lamb, a bright ECPI student who has helped with the center’s Internet portal.

The Greenville Spartanburg Anderson Technology Council is proud to be associated with this project and we can’t think of any better Holiday gift that these busy IT professionals could give this season.  Please join me in celebrating the achievement and gifts of GSATC Board Member Paul Waters and his assembled team.
