QS/1 Data Systems Launches PrimeCare OnDemand

Spartanburg, SC — QS/1 Data Systems, the leading provider of software for pharmacies, announced its first hosted Application Service Provider (ASP) solution for hospital pharmacies and long term care facilities, PrimeCare OnDemand. Spartanburg, SC — March 24, 2004 — QS/1 Data Systems, the leading provider of software for pharmacies, announced its first hosted Application Service Provider (ASP) solution for hospital pharmacies and long term care facilities, PrimeCare OnDemand. This PrimeCare OnDemand solution is based on QS/1’s PrimeCare software, which is in use in over 500 long term care facilities nationwide. QS/1 hosts PrimeCare OnDemand in multiple data centers to provide redundant networks, power, equipment and data back-up. By allowing QS/1 to store data in redundant data centers, pharmacists can eliminate their worry over losing valuable customer data due to power outages, network or equipment failures. In addition, PrimeCare OnDemand hosted solution eliminates server maintenance, resulting in increased productivity and more time for pharmacists to provide quality service to their customers.


Features provided to PrimeCare OnDemand customers, such as workflow management tools and bar code scanning, will increase accuracy in the hospital pharmacy and long-term care facility. PrimeCare OnDemand also includes facility management tools, financial management capabilities, inventory control, medical records and reports to provide an efficient solution for the pharmacy staff.

Upstate business leaders to judge Entrepreur of the Year

Ernst & Young LLP has announced the independent judging panel for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year(R) 2004 Awards in the Carolinas’ to be held on June 17, 2004. Ernest Adrade, Director of the Office of Industrial Development for the City of Charleston; Mike Baur, President and CEO of Scan Source; Allen McIntyre, CEO of ChemPro; Dr. John Palms, Former President of the University of South Carolina; and Bill Timmerman, CEO of SCANA Corporation will serve as a Carolinas’ Entrepreneur Of The Year Judges. The judging panel that will select this year’s regional award recipients is comprised of an elite group of leaders from business, academic, and civic organizations.


Now in its 19th year, the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Program recognizes outstanding entrepreneurial achievements. Past winners have included Michael Dell of Dell Inc., Herb Kelleher of Southwest Airlines and Howard Schultz of Starbucks. Self-nominations are encouraged and there is no fee for nominations, which must be received by April 2, 2004. Carolinas’ Award Recipients will be announced for the first time at the Westin Charlotte on June 17, 2004. The website launch date commemorates the 34th Anniversary of Owens’ record-setting run of better than 200 mph with Buddy Baker at the wheel of his #6 Dodge Charger Daytona on March 24, 1970 at Talladega International Speedway.


Stratatomic will also host the new website, which will serve as a resource for vintage NASCAR racing memorabilia and nostalgia items, rare and exclusive photographs from the Cotton Owens archive, career statistics, and information regarding Cotton Owens’ racing operations, cars and drivers from NASCAR’s early era. The website will offer several items for sale to collectors, such as die-cast scale model cars, RetroCards vintage collectible postcards, authentic 1964 C.O.G. brochures, and more. The website also contains vintage racing video footage from Daytona and other hard-to-find information and career histories for Cotton Owens, David Pearson, Buddy Baker, Pete Hamilton, Charlie Glotzbach, and Marty Robbins. Also, an exclusive feature of the website will be Owens’ current ongoing restoration of a 1964 Dodge Polara to NASCAR racing specifications of that era, complete with a vintage 426 Hemi NASCAR-spec racing engine exceeding 650+ horsepower.


Cotton Owens won more than 100 NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour races during the 1950s before making the transition to the NASCAR Grand National (Nextel Cup) Series competition. His most successful season as a driver was in 1959 when he won two races, notched 22 top-10 finishes (through 37 starts) and ranked second in the series season-long points chase to Lee Petty. In 1966, Owens won the NASCAR Grand National Championship with David Pearson behind the wheel of his #6 Dodge. On March 24, 1970, an Owens-powered Dodge also claimed the first closed-course record of better than 200 miles per hour with Buddy Baker at the wheel. In 1970, Cotton Owens was inducted into the National Motorsports Press Association’s Hall of Fame at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway.


Drivers for Cotton Owens include: David Pearson, Buddy Baker, Pete Hamilton, Marty Robbins, Ralph Earnhardt, Ray Hendrick, Bobby Isaac, Junior Johnson, Marvin Panch, Benny Parsons, Fireball Roberts and Bob Welborn. Other notables to drive for Owens include Mario Andretti, Darel Dieringer, Charlie Glotzbach, and Al Unser. In all, a total of 25 drivers climbed behind the wheel of Owens’ cars in 291 races, earning 32 victories and 29 pole positions.

UCED to Raise Venture Capital Awareness on April 5th
