Growth Is Not An Accident – How Strategic Plans Lead to Explosive Growth

Join the GSA Technology Council on April 13th for a Learning Lunch with celebrated Atlanta IT entrepreneur Ella Koscik. Joining MDI as co-owner in 1994 and buying out her partner six months later, Ella Koscik has grown MDI from $1 Million in revenue in 1994 to over $47 Million in 2004. She has overseen MDI’s geographic expansion into Greenville, SC; Birmingham, AL; and Phoenix, AZ, and diversification into non IT staffing as well. In 2003, Ella successfully led MDI to expand its services from IT staffing into IT Professional Services. In just over one year of operations, Professional Services grew to contribute 25% of 2004 revenue. This kind of growth requires planning, execution, and constant diligence to preserve your core values. Join the GSATC for its April learning lunch as Ella describes how MDI has used strategic planning to build their business in good times and lean. Aditionally, Ella will outline the trends in Greenville’s IT job market and tell us what future skills are most likely to be in demand.

Philadelphia CIO in battle with Verizon, Comcast

By next year, the city of Philadelphia plans to offer wireless internet access to its entire population, at below-market prices. This move has prompted debate from existing ISPs, including Verizon Communications and Comcast Corporation, who could lose customers as a result.

Philadelphia’s actions could also provide a catalyst for a nationwide movement to make broadband both accessible and affordable in every municipality. Dianah Neff, chief information officer for Philadelphia, will talk about this city wide project at the Mobile Enterprise World Congress 2005, which will be held at the JW Marriott in Las Vegas on May 18-20.
