Advanced Data Mining Awarded Contracts by USGS

Steven Harrison has joined TiBA Solutions as a Network Administrator. Steven, originally from Albany, New York, attended Greenville Technical College, and earned an Associates Degree in Computer Technology with an emphasis in Network Systems Administration. TiBA Solutions is a Greenville based custom software development company.

Advanced Data Mining Awarded Contracts by USGS

Advanced Data Mining International, LLC (ADMI) recently announced it has been awarded contracts by both the U.S. Geological Survey’s (USGS) Wisconsin Water Science Center in Middleton, WI and the USGS in Portland, OR. ADMI is a Greer, SC-based company that provides highly sophisticated data mining software, artificial intelligence computer programs and research services to utilities, manufacturers, environmental organizations, and oil and gas companies.

For the USGS’ Wisconsin Water Science Center in Middleton, WI, ADMI will provide training and technical support in applying ADMI’s iQuest data mining software, a high-performance data mining environment designed to analyze and model real-time processes. The WI USGS is collaborating with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Michigan Institute of Fisheries Research to develop statewide artificial neural network models of stream temperatures for fisheries and environmental management. ADMI’s iQuest tool and training will be instrumental in this research project.

ADMI also has been awarded a contract by the USGS in Portland, Oregon to provide research support in applying ADMI’s iQuest data mining software. The Oregon USGS is working with state and federal agencies to improve forecasting technology to better manage water resources in Oregon and California.

The USGS is a Federal agency that monitors and studies the landscape, natural resources, and natural hazards.

SBDC Offers FastTrac Workshop this week

CarlaMeeks: Carla Meeks VeronicaBennett: Veronica Bennett

Management Decisions, Inc. has announced the addition of Carla Meeks and Veronica Bennett to its Greenville office.

As Account Executive, Carla Meeks will work with MDI clients to evaluate and meet their technical staffing and project needs. Meeks is a graduate of Lander University.

Veronica Bennett will serve as MDI’s Employee Relations Specialist and will work with MDI consultants to support their contract needs. Bennett is a graduate of the University of South Carolina.

SBDC Offers FastTrac Workshop this week

Janice Putman and Jim Lee have both obtained their PMP certification. Both Janice Putman and Jim Lee are Program Managers at TiBA Solutions, and each has a successful background in mission critical software delivery. The Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is provided through the Project Management Institute (PMI).

SBDC Offers FastTrac Workshop this week

Earlier in the year, we had Kim Williams of the SBDC tell us about the exciting new entreprenuerial training program to be offered under the guidance of the Kauffman Foundation. Well FastTrac is finally here and you can sign up today!

The workshop begins Thursday, November 10 at 7:30 AM and runs through 12:00 noon. Students receive a book from the Kauffman foundation and will use the time to develop a 3 year strategic vision for their company as well as the action plan to make that vision a reality.

The workshop is $150 and registration closes Tuesday, November 8th. To register, call Shirley Bostic at (864) 297-1016.

IT Job Fair Connects Seekers and Positions

Over 300 people participated in last week’s Information Technology Job Fair at the Crowne Plaza hotel. The Greenville News’ Jenny Munro reported the Wednesday before the event that the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that many IT jobs will grow faster than the average job sector between now and 2012. She points out that computer and information system manager positions are expected to grow “much faster than average” while computer programming jobs will grow about as fast as average.

In after the event interviews, exhibitors have reported finding great candidates at the event and in fact placed candidates in positions within the week following the fair.

Stratatomic launches new ChemSales website

Stratatomic has recently launched a new website and internet marketing campaign for ChemSales at www.chem-sales.com. The new website features company and product information, downloadable tech sheets, industries served and a contact directory. Stratatomic also designed the new ChemSales corporate logo, tag-line and identity and is currently developing a print marketing campaign.

ChemSales is a family-owned and operated business located in Fountain Inn, South Carolina, with chemical manufacturing experience dating to 1974. In 1999, ChemSales, Inc. was formed specifically to supply waterborne wax emulsions and specialty dispersions to the graphic arts market and to industrial coatings formulators and manufacturers.

The website is powered by Stratatomic’s WebAdmin site managemant technology which will allow the ChemSales staff to update the site’s Products + Solutions, Wax Emulsions, Wetting Agents + Lubricants, and Performance Specialties sections of the website. Stratatomic will also host the site and provide them with Webstats site analysis tools and e-mail services.

Bio: Dan LaMorte – Kemet CIO

DanLaMorte: Dan LaMorte

Dan LaMorte joined KEMET in May, 2004 as VP and CIO. His business experience spans over 35 years with the majority spent in IT management. His career though includes two stints outside of the Technology arena when he had the opportunity to spend 5 years as VP, Worldwide Marketing & Sales with the Electronics Division of French-owned Elf Aquitaine and 5 years in Operations and Supply Chain Management with Fisher Scientific, a Laboratory products distributor . He has extensive International business experience having worked with both German and French owned companies.

He began his IT career as a COBOL programmer with U.S. Steel Corp in Pittsburgh. Most of his career has been spent with manufacturing and distribution companies but he has experience in the banking and retail industries as well. Prior to KEMET he was CIO at Submit Order, a venture-capital funded start-up in Columbus, Ohio that provided outsourced services for Fortune 500 e-commerce businesses. Prior to Submit Order, he was CIO at Cole National in Cleveland, Ohio, a manufacturer and retailer of eyeglasses under the Sears Optical and Pearle Vision brands.

Dan is a member of the IT Leadership Council, and will speak to the GSATC in November.
