North Gate Labs adds Montesion

Roselle Montesion, has joined North Gate Labs. Montesion was most recently the Director of Interactive Services at Henderson Advertising where she built their Hdrive group. She will lead a newly formed Strategic Internet Marketing Consulting arm for Web Sales Tool.

Ryan Owens to judge WebAward 2006

Ryan Owens has recently been selected for the fourth consecutive year as one of the expert judges for the 2006 WebAward Competition for outstanding website development, sponsored by the Web Marketing Association.     

The annual WebAward Competition is produced by the Web Marketing Association (WMA), founded in 1997 to set a high standard for Internet marketing and site development on the World Wide Web. More at www.webaward.org.

Stratatomic adds Carolina Furniture and Nextusa

Stratatomic, a creative design studio located in Greenville, SC, has recently added two new Upstate businesses to its growing portfolio of clients, including Carolina Furniture of Simpsonville and Netxusa of Greenville. About our speaker:

Newell Eastland is a Greenville native. His IT career started in 1980 in the two man shop of a local institutional food distributor. After 3 years with a consulting firm, he began work for Capsugel (a division of Pfizer) a manufacturer for the pharmaceutical industry located in Greenwood, SC. Over the next 15 years he held positions in application development, installed the Windows NT network and maintained the server farm, and was the location’s corporate liaison for security matters. In 2003 he became the Information Security Analyst for RBC Liberty, an insurance company with a long history in Greenville. When RBC sold the infrastructure group to IBM in 2005, Newell became the location Security Focal and Information Security / Business Controls lead for IBM Insurance Outsourcing Services. He is an MCP and holds the Security+ and CISSP certifications.

Best Buy to offer Lenovo, ThinkPad, ThinkCentre

Lenovo and Best Buy have announced that they will join forces to provide small and medium business customers with access to purchase ThinkPad notebooks, ThinkCentre desktops and the newly announced Lenovo-branded 3000 PCs.

Small business customers nationwide now will have the opportunity to acquire Lenovo technology online, by phone and at more than 135 “Best Buy For Business” locations. IDC reports that by 2007, U.S. PC shipments to small businesses (1-99 employees) are expected to grow by two million units (1). Instant Software Hires Industry Leader Linda Hess

Instant Software, the Florida-based technology firm that provides reservation management systems for the vacation rental industry, announces the appointment of Linda Hess to the position of regional manager of the company’s Client Relationship Management Team.

“We’re thrilled to have Linda on our team,” stated Dave Hopcroft, CEO of Instant Software. “She’s an industry icon whose experience will add greatly to our already successful management team.”

Ms. Hess will be the regional manager for North and South Carolina as well as Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama and the Northeast. Linda has been a vacation rental manager since 1992 and has served on many industry boards. Hess, a member of Vacation Rental Management Association (VRMA) since 1996, recently retired from a three-year term on the board. She was the president of North Carolina VRMA from 2002-2005 and is also the immediate past president of The Outer Banks Association of REALTORS®. Hess is also a member of the NAR Resorts and Second Home Committee and presently serves as a director of the North Carolina Association of Realtors. Hess will be based out of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina.

Bank of America Reaches 15 Million Online Customers

Bank of America:

The past year of enhancements in bill payments, online applications, customer service and products has helped Bank of America maintain its dominance in online banking and reach a record 15 million subscribers. That makes up more than one-third of the market in the United States, according to comScore.

Bank of America has continued to redefine online banking as “online financial retailing,” with the company’s community of online customers increasingly taking advantage of the full suite of Bank of America products and services through bankofamerica.com. Sales of products through bankofamerica.com totaled 3.8 million in 2005, an increase of 69 percent. This included 2.3 million online activations, 380,000 new savings accounts, 375,000 new credit card accounts and 298,000 new checking accounts.

April 13 Your Day Radio show to host GSATC Exec Director

Phil Yanov, Director of Business Development at Acentron Technologies, Inc., as well as Founder and Executive Director of the GSA Technology Council will once again take calls live on Clemson University’s Your Day radio program scheduled for Thursday April 13.  

The noontime show will begin with a half hour pre-recorded segment in which Donna London of the Jim Self Center on the Future talks with Dr. Nancy Snow, assistant professor in the College of Communications at California State University, Fullerton, and adjunct assistant professor in the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California. A Senior Fellow in the USC Center on Public Diplomacy, Dr. Snow is directing a research and teaching initiative on anti-Americanism and the American image in the world and the two will discuss the validity of news in blogging.

The live call in segment will appear in the second half of the hour long show. During that time Eric Rodgers will host Phil Yanov as they answer questions on blogging, online news media, and other internet technologies.  Members of the radio audience are invited to call in with questions on computer technology and related topics during the second half of the show.
