South Carolina’s best funded Startup in years is QTires. Although we don’t think much about the need for studded tires in South Carolina, they are a fact of life in pretty much all points north of here. QTires has developed and patented a technology that allows the studs to appear or retract on demand. At this meeting we’ll here how QTires was born, how it ended up in South Carolina, and how did they go about gathering $8 Million dollars in investment.
About QTires
Q Tires is a global manufacturer and marketer of all-year, all-weather tires, containing patented, deployable Studs on Cue technology. This technology allows drivers to deploy or retract those studs as needed when confronting snow and ice. The founder of Q Tires began in Oregon with an idea and developed concepts of the tire. Research and development has been conducted in Akron, Ohio. The company came to South Carolina for leadership and know-how to translate their breakthrough into a viable company. Its Greenville headquarters operations today include finance, sales, marketing, quality assurance, and tire engineering & design. The company is relocating it’s Research and Development to South Carolina.
