At the February GSA Technology Council learning lunch, Upstate Nanotechnology Entrepreneur Michael Bolick will tell us about the start of Selah Technologies, how they have developed an idea, built a team, acquired grants and investment, and launched a high tech startup in the upstate.
In 2006 Selah Technologies obtained a worldwide exclusive license from Clemson University to develop and commercialize the patent-pending platform nanotechnology Selah Dots™ and Selah Tubes™. In November 2007, Selah received a $100,000 SBIR Phase I grant from the National Science Foundation to fund additional development activities for the company’s Selah Tubes™ nanotechnology along with $200,000 in funding from SC Launch.
“Manufacturing is not dead” says Bolick. “Advanced Materials is the perfect growth platform for Upstate South Carolina’s economy.” His company, Selah Technologies is just one of the companies forming the nascent Advanced Materials cluster in South Carolina.
