“Hoping to take a step toward creating a wireless Internet cloud over all of South Carolina, state Rep. Dwight Loftis introduced a bill this week that calls for using ETV towers to create such a cloud over all public schools in the state.The state needs to act by January or lose licenses that South Carolina Educational Television holds that could make broadband access widely available, the Greenville Republican said.
‘I think some of the major carriers are afraid of the competition. I understand that,” he said. “But the world is going wireless.’”
