imageSpartanburg, SC –  Iljin America, a South Korean manufacturer of industrial grade ball bearings has begun launching operation in Spartanburg county.  By September of 2009 the company expects to add about 120 jobs to the region.

In March the company bought a former textile building located near the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport and since has been working on solidifying their $38 million investment in the region. At present some state incentives packages are still being negotiated and will likely be a topic of discussion for the Spartanburg County Council sometime next week.

Iljin has a workforce of over 2,000 employees at plants in South Korea, China, and Slovakia.  Last year the company reported over $1 billion in revenues.  Hiring for the new upstate plant is expected to begin over the next eight months.
