Infor today announced that Barry-Wehmiller Companies Inc., a global supplier of packaging, corrugating and paper converting technology, has expanded its relationship with Infor through the implementation of Infor ERP XA at Paper Converting Machine Company (PCMC), its latest and largest manufacturing acquisition. Barry-Wehmiller uses Infor ERP XA throughout its ten business divisions to enhance intercompany collaboration, enable data sharing and optimize inventory management across the entire organization.
With a business model based heavily on acquisitions, Barry-Wehmiller has relied on the Infor ERP XA since 1988 to integrate new companies into its business operations, implementing it uniformly across all of its business divisions.
“The entire Barry-Wehmiller family of companies is heavily committed to leadership in lean manufacturing principles and practices and we require solutions that enable us to maintain transparency through the organization, reduce redundancies and be more nimble to capitalize on market opportunities,” said Craig Hergenroether, CIO, Barry-Wehmiller. “The built-in capabilities of Infor ERP XA, and its specific orientation toward discrete manufacturing, deliver the functionality we need to help meet our business goals and objectives.”
“The implementation of Infor ERP XA enabled us to take an in-depth look at our processes throughout our organization and improve them where necessary,” said Matt Gidley, director of information technology, PCMC. “Once our processes were defined, mapping them into the solution was the next logical step. Within 18 months, all three of PCMC’s manufacturing plants will be live, which would have been very difficult with our previous system from SAP.”
PCMC has already realized significant ROI from the implementation, including a 50 percent reduction in new item number creation. The company’s throughput of items and bills of material, as well as data integrity, have also increased, while simultaneously reducing data collection and time reconciliation from hours to minutes. In addition, Barry-Wehmiller’s standardized ERP software model has enabled PCMC and other Barry-Wehmiller companies to reduce IT maintenance and operating costs.
“Infor focuses on anticipating customer needs and continually breaks new ground with solutions that help companies maximize efficiencies and optimize revenue streams,” said Kevin Piotrowski, director, industry and product marketing, discrete industries, Infor. “Barry-Wehmiller’s decision to expand its business with Infor is a testament to our commitment to providing innovative, flexible solutions that enable our customers to maximize their IT investments, even as their business or customer requirements change.”
