Greenville Described as South Carolina’s “Textiest City” in Verizon Wireless Study

Earlier this week Verizon Wireless released results from its 2008 “Big City Wireless Use” study, revealing that South Carolina has experienced a large increase in text messaging among the company’s customers.  The study showed a nearly 500 percent increase in text messaging use in South Carolina over a two year period between April 2006 and April 2008.

Greenville earned South Carolina’s number one spot for sent text messages in the study.  In April of this year Greenville Verizon Wireless customers sent and received nearly 116 million text messages, a huge increase compared to the 19 million two years ago in 2006.

The purpose of Verizon Wireless’ “Big City Wireless Use” study is to provide both the industry and customers with data on mobile phone use trends throughout the country.
