Author of “Growing Cooler” to Speak at Clemson

Urban policy researcher and author Reid Ewing will speak about his new book “Growing Cooler: the Evidence of Urban Development on Climate Change” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at Clemson University’s Strom Thurmond Institute.

Ewing will speak about the link between urban growth and greenhouse gas emissions generated by transportation.

Ewing holds a master’s degree in engineering and city planning from Harvard University and a doctorate in transportation systems and urban planning from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is currently a research professor at the University of Maryland’s National Center for Smart Growth.

This event is sponsored by Upstate Forever, the League of Women Voters of the Clemson Area, the Strom Thurmond Institute, the Clemson University Environmental Committee, Oxfam International and the Science and Technology in Society program at Clemson University.

Ewing’s presentation is free and open to the public.
