KPMG LLP, the audit, tax and advisory firm, announced today that Richard (Dick) K. Anderson, has been appointed Chief Information Officer (CIO), responsible for leading the firm’s Information Technology Services (ITS) organization. Anderson succeeds Rowan Snyder, who is retiring.
“KPMG’s technology and information systems are core to our ability to effectively serve our clients,” said KPMG Executive Vice Chair, Operations, Jack Taylor. “Particularly as we continue to implement KPMG’s world class technology infrastructure, Dick brings with him vast experience and unique abilities ideally suited to lead KPMG’s IT organization.”
As CIO, Anderson, who is a principal in the firm’s IT Advisory practice, will be a member of KPMG’s Operations Committee and will be responsible for overall coordination and IT service delivery throughout the U.S. firm. He is also charged with adding capabilities and improving KPMG’s ability to provide reliable and secure processing of client information; enhancing controls to ensure information and processing security, reliability, and integrity; and improving the firm’s overall coordination and integration with the global IT infrastructure. In addition, Anderson will lead the IT organizations efforts to engage and collaborate with KPMG client CIOs.
“KPMG clearly understands the power of technology and is committed to creating an efficient IT organization that is highly responsive to the needs of KPMG’s business, clients and people,” said Anderson. “I’m looking forward to working closely with the firm’s partners and staff to further KPMG’s progress and leadership in this important area.”
A 30-year IT management veteran, Anderson joined KPMG in 2005 and has most recently served as global and national leader of the firm’s IT Strategy and Performance Services. He has worked extensively with many key clients and has led development and deployment of new ITA services.
Prior to joining KPMG in 2005, Anderson was the vice president of Strategy and Applied Research for AT&T. During his tenure at AT&T, he also served as a vice president of AT&T Labs; Chief Information Officer of AT&T Solutions, a $6B consulting and outsourcing business; and the managing partner of AT&T’s IT Consulting and Systems Integration Services practice.
Earlier in his career, Anderson was a principal with McKinsey & Company, Inc. in New York, where he helped create the Worldwide Information Management and Technology Practice. His contributions helped establish the importance of information technology as a critical dimension of strategic business planning. He was also a partner with Accenture in Washington D.C., where he led that firm’s IT Architecture and Advanced Systems Design Group.
Anderson holds a B.A. degree in economics and psychology from the University of Miami, and an M.S. degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of Connecticut.
