May Learning Lunch: Securing the Future of IT in SC

The message in the media has changed. IT jobs did not all go overseas, and IT jobs aren’t just for programmers and network analysts. Today there are not enough young people in the pipeline for all the IT jobs that will be needed in the next ten years. To address the problem, Blue Cross, IBM, and the University of South Carolina (USC) have created a consortium to grow IT talent, nurture IT management expertise and cultivate related business and organizational relationships.

April Lunch - Staying ahead of Hackers

Few can argue that web applications present significant threat of attacks for organizations. Stay ahead of the hackers, understand how vulnerabilities in applications are first exposed and then exploited by cyber-criminals for profit.

Dan Gravelle, a Technology Specialist and a member of the IBM Security Team will be presenting the importance of web application security — today’s most significant online threat. Several of the most common web application attacks — how they occur, and what can be done to prevent them. Manual versus automated approaches for scanning and identifying web application vulnerabilities How an automated vulnerability scanner can help you automate more of what you are doing manually today. Dan will demonstrate the most common attacks and how easy it can be for today’s “hackers” to break into your systems. I guarantee this will keep you on the edge of your seats during the entire session.

* We apologize for the increased lunch program prices as of our February meeting. I can’t imagine a more difficult time to deliver this news. While this is a cost driven issue for us, we hope that you will agree that we have been delivering higher and higher quality speakers over the years and that the benefit to you has in fact increased far more dramatically, than this, our first price increase in the lunch program in six years.
