EDTS Adds Sales Professional to Carolinas Team

EDTS, LLC, a full-service technology consulting firm, specializing in networking, security, and managed services support solutions for business, has announced the addition of Shea Blackston as a Strategic Account Manager to its rapidly growing team. Ms. Blackston is a native of North Augusta, South Carolina and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from Winthrop University. She has over nine years of experience in marketing and media production and previously owned her own company specializing in event marketing and production, copywriting, and small business consulting. Immedion Looking to Hire Two Senior-Level Positions for Columbia Data Center

Immedion, LLC, South Carolina’s first dedicated data center and managed services provider announced today they are looking to fill two senior level positions in their Columbia office, a Senior Sales Engineer and a Senior Managed Services Engineer. Immedion is looking for highly qualified, results-driven candidates.

Scansource Announces New Chairman of the Board

ScanSourceScanSource, Inc. has announced that Steven R. Fischer has been elected as its new Chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr. Fischer has served as a director of the Company since December 1995 and is succeeding James G. Foody, who has served as Chairman of the Board since December 2005 and as a director of the Company since December 1995. Mr. Foody will continue to serve as a director of the Company and has been designated as Chairman Emeritus.

“It has been a great honor to serve as Chairman of the Board these past four years and to be a part of the ScanSource story,” said Mr. Foody. “It’s been a privilege to serve together with Steve on the Board, and I look forward to seeing him take on this new role and lead the Board into 2010.”

Dr. Tom Quantrille Named to GADC Board

Tom+QuantrilleThe Greenville Area Development Corporation (GADC), the county-chartered organization tasked with promoting and enhancing the economic growth of Greenville County, announced the addition of Dr. Thomas E. Quantrille, president and chief executive officer of Advanced Composite Materials, LLC to the organization’s Board of Directors.

“Mr. Quantrille is extremely knowledgeable about the Greenville community and has historically played an active and important role in helping to attract quality jobs and organizations to Greenville County,” said Jerry Howard, GADC President and CEO, in making the announcement. “He will make an exceptional addition to the leadership team for our community and for this organization.”

Mr. Quantrille is a long-time resident of Greenville County who has served in multiple roles with Advanced Composite Materials in Greer since 2002, when he joined the organization from BBA Group, plc in Simpsonville. Prior to BBA, he also held leadership positions in research, marketing and product development with both Poly-Bond, Inc. and The Procter & Gamble Company. He holds both a B.S. and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech, is a published author, and holds numerous patents pertaining to advanced materials technologies including composite ceramics as well as nonwoven fabrics and fibers. He is active on the Greenville Works Advanced Manufacturing cluster leadership committee, and serves as an elder at Heritage Bible Church.

“As the head of a company that has benefited from the services that the GADC provides, Mr. Quantrille brings a unique perspective and talent set to the table to assist firms seeking to relocate or expand here,” said Mike Buiter, GADC Board chairman. “As president of a high-technology manufacturing firm in Greenville, he understands the needs of the business community well, and will provide invaluable help in promoting this community with prospective businesses.”

Mr. Quantrille replaces former Board member Randy Britton.

Gregory L. Frank Joins SCRA as Executive Vice President

New to SCRA, Mr. Frank plays an integral role in the strategic direction, goal setting and performance management of the company. Mr. Frank’s professional background includes more than 25 years of experience in R&D leadership and management, as well as technology commercialization.

Prior to joining SCRA, Mr. Frank was Managing Director and Operating Partner of Chart Capital Partners, a leading private equity firm focused on growth equity and control investment in US-based, middle-market companies. Previously, he was Executive Vice President for Battelle Science and Technology International, which generated $1 billion per year in revenue from 2001-2007. Under his leadership, more than 5,500 scientists, engineers and supporting staff developed R&D products and solved problems for federal, state and local governments and for commercial and international clients. This global, commercial and government segment of Battelle focused on growth in the National Security, Health & Life Science and Energy/Environment business arenas.

Prior to joining Battelle, Mr. Frank served as a Chemical Officer in the US Army, 1st Infantry Division as well as assignments in R&D, Testing and Evaluation. Mr. Frank earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and a Master of Arts degree in Analytical Chemistry from the University of South Dakota (USD). He is a graduate of Duke University’s Executive Management Program. He currently serves on the Board of Advisors to Horne International and the Chart Group. He is also a Board member on the USD Foundation. He has served on the Defense Science Board and the National Defense Industrial Association Board.

Zeus Expands International Support With New Hires

zeusZeus, Inc., a global leader in material science and high performance polymer extrusions, has expanded its international personnel with the hiring of David Labelle as its new Business Development Manager and Derek Ramsey in the position of European Sales Supervisor. Both Labelle and Ramsey have strong backgrounds in sales, business development and management within various markets.

David Labelle, who lives in Lyon, France, is the newest member of the Zeus international sales team as Business Development Manager for France, Belgium, Spain and Portugal. In that role, he will manage and develop international business partners and networks. He is skilled in new business development and effective selling of innovative and value-added products. Labelle has an engineering degree and an MBA. He previously served as co-founder and sales and business-development manager for a high-tech start-up company. Labelle’s native language is French, but he also speaks English and Spanish.

“David’s engineering, sales and management background will allow him to quickly acclimate to Zeus and the application-specific needs of our international partners,” said Alan Andrews, Zeus Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing. “With David in this position, we expect to bring better customer support within France, Belgium, Spain and Portugal.”

Derek Ramsey, an Irish national, has assumed the position of European Sales Supervisor for the Ireland sales team. Ramsey has a history in sales within the retail and FMCG sectors and previously worked as a key account executive maintaining existing business and developing revenue streams. He earned a Diploma in Business and Commerce from Dublin Institute of Technology and has completed training in the areas of presentation, personnel management and finance and accounting.

Commenting on Ramsey’s hire, Andrews said, “we are pleased to have Derek join our team and take on a leadership role in Ireland. His hire is part of an overall strategy to facilitate further growth in the European market and better meet the needs of our international partners.”

Acumen Hires New I.T. Engineer

Acumen I.T. has hired Chris Simpson as an I.T. Engineer. Simpson will be responsible for a wide range of support functions, including server maintenance and updates, troubleshooting and remote support, backups and log file monitoring.

Prior to Acumen, Simpson was a Microsoft Certified Trainer and I. T. Manager for New Horizons Computer Learning Centers in Columbia and Greenville. His background also includes network and desktop consulting services for small business in the Upstate.

Simpson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in technology support and training management from the University of South Carolina.

Merge adds two…

Merge, a Greenville-based web development firm is proud to announce the addition of two new employees to its team.

Scott McGuire was hired as Merge’s Creative Director. Scott is an extremely talented designer and also holds a certificate as an advanced ColdFusion programmer.

Erin Oliver joined Merge to assist the firm in its sales and marketing efforts.

AssetPoint Promotes 1 and Adds 3 to Staff

AssetPoint, a leading Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solution provider, announced that due to a significant increase in opportunities in the markets we serve  the company has promoted one employee and added 3 employees to its growing staff.

Ms. Kay Jenkins was promoted to Managing Partner responsible for Applied Technologies within AssetPoint. She is a long term AssetPoint employee and has been managing its growing software development staff and overseeing TabWare Online, AssetPoint’s Software as a Service offering. Ms. Jenkins holds a BS Degree in Computer Science from the College of Charleston.

Ms. Cindy Williams has joined AssetPoint as a software development specialist.  She has over 15 years experience in software development and holds a BS Degree in Computer Science from Furman University.

Ms. Amanda Posey has joined AssetPoint as a software development specialist.  She is a Microsoft Certified Professional and has over 7 years experience in software development.  She also holds Information Technology Certification from the Rushing Center for Advanced Technology.  Ms. Posey holds a BA Degree in Psychology from Furman University.

Mr. Kin Cook has joined AssetPoint as a Senior Maintenance Engineer.  He  has over 25 years experience providing contract and consulting services in industrial maintenance.  Mr. Cook holds a B.S. Degree in Industrial Management from Clemson University.  He also holds a Level 4 Maintenance Planner Certification and is an ISO Auditor in addition to his qualifications as a NC & SC Unlimited General Contractor.

Cheves joins North Gate Labs

Caroline Cheves will serve as a Client Project Manager at North Gate Labs. In this newly created position Caroline will assist both the clients and the staff for Web Sales Tool in order to keep projects on track and fast paced as the company continues to grow.

A graduate of The University of the South in Sewanee, Cheves has spent the last 7 years in Atlanta were she worked as a Project Manager. She has returned to Greenville, SC where she volunteers with the local Blood Connection and other area non-profit groups.
