The Greenville Area Development Corporation (GADC), the county-chartered organization tasked with promoting and enhancing the economic growth of Greenville County, announced the addition of Dr. Thomas E. Quantrille, president and chief executive officer of Advanced Composite Materials, LLC to the organization’s Board of Directors.
“Mr. Quantrille is extremely knowledgeable about the Greenville community and has historically played an active and important role in helping to attract quality jobs and organizations to Greenville County,” said Jerry Howard, GADC President and CEO, in making the announcement. “He will make an exceptional addition to the leadership team for our community and for this organization.”
Mr. Quantrille is a long-time resident of Greenville County who has served in multiple roles with Advanced Composite Materials in Greer since 2002, when he joined the organization from BBA Group, plc in Simpsonville. Prior to BBA, he also held leadership positions in research, marketing and product development with both Poly-Bond, Inc. and The Procter & Gamble Company. He holds both a B.S. and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech, is a published author, and holds numerous patents pertaining to advanced materials technologies including composite ceramics as well as nonwoven fabrics and fibers. He is active on the Greenville Works Advanced Manufacturing cluster leadership committee, and serves as an elder at Heritage Bible Church.
“As the head of a company that has benefited from the services that the GADC provides, Mr. Quantrille brings a unique perspective and talent set to the table to assist firms seeking to relocate or expand here,” said Mike Buiter, GADC Board chairman. “As president of a high-technology manufacturing firm in Greenville, he understands the needs of the business community well, and will provide invaluable help in promoting this community with prospective businesses.”
Mr. Quantrille replaces former Board member Randy Britton.
Since its inception in 2001, the Greenville Area Development Corporation has announced support of more than 140 major projects representing more than $1.9 billion in capital investment and creating in excess of 9,000 new jobs. Private sector support of the GADC has also reached an all-time high, with more than 125 investor companies now contributing to the community’s and GADC’s success.
